removing write protection from usb drive

Removing write protection from usb (flash drive), mp3 players, PSP, mp4 players is a big problem and now a days many peoples lost their usb (flash drives) becuase of write protection. This problem occur when you remove your usb (flash drive) from your computer when the usb are busy in copying or removing data or any installation is in progress which cause you to lose your usb, but this problem is now been solved

I have searched around two hours on google and other search engines to solve this issue & finally i found the answer.

Removing write protection from USB (flash drive) requires you to edit your windows registry files which can harm your computer so better to make a backup first and then start editing your registry files (backup process also explained below).

Procedure:

  • First of all Click on Start Menu then Run > type ‘regedit’ (without the speachmarks) then Press Enter.
  • Right click on ‘My Computer’ > File > Export > & save it to the Desktop (This is your Registry Backup)
  • Now Goto > My ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlStorageDe vicePolicies
  • Double click on the string ‘WriteProtect’ and change the ‘Value Data’ box to ‘0’
  • Now in the Toolbar click on File > Export > save it on any safeplace with any name like ‘StorageDevicePolicies001.reg’
  • You also need to do this for the strings in any folders called ‘ControlSet***’ (* = any Digit, i.e. 001, 002) – for example: Everything is the same, just change ‘CurrentControlSet’ to ‘ControlSet***

My ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlStorageDevice Policies

Save these to the same place as before as ‘StorageDevicePolicies00*’

The saves are in case it reverts at a later date, just double click (saying ‘yes’ to importing these to the registry) on all of the files and it will all work again! This Procedure is working for me Perfectly and i just restored my MP4 player using this procedure, please try this procedure and if it works then comment here.
